Building a solution with Nokia that enables industries to choose to see everything

Case: Nokia

Nokia has partnered with Kodan to build a solution that supports defense teams, factory floors and live entertainment venues alike, covering everything from hardware-level research to end-user interfaces. Together, Nokia and Kodan are helping organizations operate, collaborate and experience environments in entirely new ways.

A partnership that lasts:

From early research all the way to commercial products, and still going strong.

Built for the real world:

Delivered across several global industry and entertainment sectors.

Award-winning results:

Contributed to two Red Dot Awards for the Nokia 5G 360 Camera.

Nokia RXRM is a real-time 360° video and spatial audio solution. It allows mining engineers to supervise a dangerous extraction site from a safe distance, gives a defense team full situational awareness without being physically present, and delivers immersive live experiences to sports fans wherever they are. It's a serious, advanced piece of technology, and exactly the kind of challenge Kodan is built for. Through RXRM, Nokia is advancing connectivity beyond traditional networks, enabling richer, more immediate ways to see, hear and understand what's happening in critical environments.

Kodan has been part of the Nokia RXRM journey for years, with a dedicated team of developers involved across multiple projects from an early stage. Kodan's work with Nokia spans the full technical stack: from low-level hardware development and research to the software interfaces that end users interact with every day.

As Sami Ranta at Nokia puts it, "We have worked closely with Kodan in developing our RXRM solution. They've become an integral part of our development team, and collaborating with the same individuals over many years has proven both highly productive and extremely valuable."

A reliable foundation for complex work

Over time, Kodan and Nokia have built a way of working together that holds up under pressure. That includes shared policies, aligned tooling and teams working side by side in the same physical locations. These practical foundations help maintain consistent quality and keep operations safe. They may not appear in a product demo, but they are critical when the stakes are high and the work has to be right.

That foundation has also had to grow. Moving from early research projects to delivering mission-critical systems for defense and industrial customers demanded ongoing development on both sides: sharper processes, higher standards and a shared commitment to continuous improvement as projects grew in scale and complexity.

What began as experimental research has since become commercial products used across defense, entertainment and industrial applications worldwide. The Nokia 5G 360 Camera, a core component of the Nokia RXRM solution, has also been recognized with two Red Dot Awards, one of the most respected international design honors.

We have worked closely with Kodan in developing our RXRM solution. They've become an integral part of our development team, and collaborating with the same individuals over many years has proven both highly productive and extremely valuable.
